Indonesian Manganese Ore Prices Keeping Stable

Although the demand for manganese ore remains relatively slow from China, while the Indonesian suppliers hold their offers for manganese ore 40% firm at USD260-280/t CIF China due to the high expectation to the future market.

An Indonesian miner, who used to move 2,000t of manganese ore 40% per month, has halted production since middle of last month due to the exploitation license issue. With 1,000t of the material at hand, the miner offered their material at USD270/t CIF China on Wednesday, the same as last week.They got some inquires from China recently, but did not make deals as the Chinese buyers still thought the price was high for them.

“Due to the license problems, many smaller mines have been suspended production, which results in low availability of manganese ore.As we are not urgent to sell our materials, we will hold our offers firm,” said the source, adding that it is expected that the market will rebound next month.

An Indonesian trader who deals with 1,500t of manganese ore 40% per month reported that they can offer the Chinese buyers at USD260/t CIF China, the same level as last week.The source expressed that the demand from China has no improvement compared to last week, while the demand from India is better than China, and they signed the long term contract at the beginning of this month with an Indian buyer at USD280/t CIF India to supply 800t/m of the material.

“Due to the decreasing supply of manganese ore in Indonesia, the suppliers gain more confidence that the manganese ore market will pick up, so we will keep our offers firm,” said the source.
